About the Author

Michael Walker was born in Liverpool, England in the early 80s and moved to Yorkshire when he was 4 with his parents, younger sister and later on his younger brother.  He grew up in Pontefract, England and has remained there ever since marrying in 2007.  Michael has two young children, who are the inspiration for his first book,

The Orb: The Lure of the Crow
Siblings, Jack and Lily-ann Dean venture into an unseen world after being lured by two mutated crows. Frightened and lost they are helpless in their attempts to escape the orb and turn to other captives for help. Created by a crazed scientist, the surreal environment throws up a
number of challenges that put the children in mortal anger, including the unforgiving results of various evil
experiments. Shifting landscapes and mutated beasts lead the children through a variety of emotions resulting in a choice that could either save everyone involved or cause certain suffering for the captives of the orb.

If you want to escape you need to avoid the transfer room, the beasts and the mist at all costs!

Teaching Resources

I will be creating resources and planning using the novel linked to the primary curriculum. I would love to see the book used in  schools and feedback of how it’s used would be greatly received.
